Service is an essential dimension of the mission of our school. We work to instill a lifelong desire and commitment to helping others. All of our students participate in community service projects and the upper grade levels have required service hours each year. Through direct service an reflection, students respond compassionately to the needs of the community and realize the importance of their roles in a global society.
Retreats are a critical part of faith formation. Students reflect on components of grade level curriculum and deepen their sense of spirituality, faith, and relationships with their fellow classmates.
Prayer and weekly liturgy are integral and purposeful parts of the Saint James experience. Students from a designated grade prepare and lead all-school Masses. Daily religion classes teach the tenets and social teachings of the Catholic church. Discussions of God and faith are present in EVERY subject and preferred class discussions, projects, and events. Prayer buddies unite younger and older students at school activities. Students are fully prepared for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Students participate in Catholic traditions such as Rosary, Stations of the Cross, Eucharistic Adoration, May Crowning, and Reconciliation. Grades 6-8 are invited to attend weekly Bible study before school; a wonderful start to their day!
