Upper Grades
Grades 6-8 develop students prepared to make meaningful contributions of leadership and service to their community. Academic rigor prepares them for the demands of high school and beyond. The curriculum in the upper grades includes religion, language arts, math, early physical and life science, world and US history, Spanish daily, computer technology, music, art, daily physical education, and fitness club.
In addition to the primary/middle grade co-curricular activities, upper grade level students can participate in Student Council, G.E.M.S. (service club), Junior High musical, Bible Study, and Spanish Club.
Program Details:
- Students plan weekly school liturgies and participate in retreats.
- 94% of seventh-graders score above the national average on standardized Terra Nova tests.
- SJS sponsors a chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.
- Beginning in 6th grade, SJS has an active interscholastic athletic program for girls and boys. Sports offered include basketball, cross country, softball, track and field, volleyball and cheerleading.
- Differentiated programs and learning labs accommodate all students based on ability and need.
