The St. James Athletic Program teaches and encourages Christian values as it promotes physical development, athletic skill, team camaraderie, good sportsmanship, and school spirit.

St. James School offers an active interscholastic athletic program for boys and girls in grades 5 through 8.  SJS competes in the Northwest Suburban Catholic Conference (NWSCC) consisting of 12 area schools, including St. Alphonsus, St. Ann, St. Colette, St. Emily, St. Hubert, Our Lady of the Wayside, Queen of the Rosary, St. Raymond, St. Theresa, St. Thomas and St. Zachary.

The athletics program is managed by the SJS Athletic Association, established in 1990, with the mission to foster good sportsmanship among teammates and between competing teams. The Athletic Association is run by a dedicated group of parent volunteers and reports to the Principal of the school.

The sports offered include: Basketball, Cheerleading & Poms, Cross-Country, Soccer, Softball, Track, and Volleyball.
