Standardized Test Results
In April of 2016 the Office of Catholic Schools administered the ACT ASPIRE tests to students in grades 3-8. This was the first time a test of such rigor was administered with the intent to measure a students’ college and career readiness track from third grade through high school. All Reading and Math Mean Scale Scores for SJS students fall at or above of the 85th percentile of National School Norms.
TERRA NOVA TEST RESULTS from 2012-2015
Historically, the Office of Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago tested elementary students using the Terra Nova Tests to measure important higher-order thinking skills as well as basic and applied skills. These assessments generated norm-referenced achievement scores, criterion-referenced objective mastery scores, and performance-level information.
The Archdiocese of Chicago recently updated its curriculum standards to ensure alignment with national and college readiness standards and decided to use the Aspire test for grades three through eight. The Aspire test is a standardized assessment that is aligned to the new curriculum standards and is a product produced by ACT, the most widely administered college entrance exam.
