FROM THE DESK OF MRS. PAPPAS
My thanks to all families for your time, treasure, talents, and support throughout this year. I always tell people that one of the greatest assets of St. James is its sense of community and its volunteers. We couldn’t do it without you!!
Special thanks to parents who have completed several years of service in leadership roles on the FSA Board: Christine Chodil and Kristen Wentink.
St. James School has a tremendous staff! We are grateful to our teachers, support and maintenance staffs for all of their hard work this year. We thank them and wish them many blessing for their service to our children.Best wishes to Mrs. Erland, Mrs. Potenza, Mrs. Chandler, and Mrs. Giovannetti, whose life journeys are taking them down a new road. We thank them for their service to our students!
Thanks, too, to our priests! Father Matt and Father Derek are precious to our school families! We thank God for this blessing!
Enjoy a great summer with your family! Stay in touch by seeing one another at Sunday Mass. And with the Lord’s blessings, we’ll reunite in August, ready to take St. James school to greater heights!
As for me, I take leave with great joy and gratitude. My 14 years as “the proud principal of St. James School” have enriched my life. Eternal thanks to my wonderful colleagues, particularly my Assistant Principals through the years, Mrs. Jackie Balogh and Mrs. Kathy Davy. I wouldn’t be in administration if it weren’t for my mentor and role model, Mrs. Rose Mannion; my deepest admiration and love to her. Thanks to the parish staff, parents and parishioners, but most of all to the more than one thousand or so students who attended SJS during my years here. You have been my teacher in so many ways. You have been a great inspiration to me, encouraging me to grow in knowledge and faith right along with you. Continue to work hard and do your best every day—- and don’t forget to BE KIND!!
God bless you and God bless St. James School and Parish!

Options that have proven successful for SJS families are Dennis Uniform and Lands End. Only Dennis carries the SJS uniform plaid items. Dennis has closed its Mount Prospect store. The nearest brick and mortar store is in Chicago just of the Kennedy expressway on Higgins at Harlem. Sample items are available in the SJS office for sizing purposes for online ordering.
P.E. UNIFORMS Grades 6-8 are required to wear uniforms for Physical Education. CLICK HERE to access the ordering site.
The days are long, but the years are short! And so we find ourselves at the end of another school year. We started this year with our hearts and minds ready to embrace many changes within our FSA. As we take a moment to reflect on the past year, we are thankful that you, the families of SJS, supported these changes.
Sara Allaire and Julie Morgan, SJS Class of 2012, are doing a summer mission trip to Africa. They are traveling with Love Africa Mission to Kijabe, Kenya, home to the Africa Inland Mission station established in 1903. On station, Julia and Sara will connect with Kijabe Hospital, CURE Hospital, Kenya Kids Can, Little Lambs Daycare, Southern Cross, and Rift Valley Fellowship – all incredible ministries that are working to alleviate the brokenness of Kenya. They will have the opportunity to meet the Masai people down in the Rift Valley and experience true tribal culture during their Sunday worship service. We will also be serving refugees at the IDP Camps (Internally Displaced People) as a part of a feeding program, established in 2011, which feeds over 300 children each school day.
God bless you, Sara and Julia, for your commitment to service!
