As their special day approaches, the Class of 2019 gathered to celebrate at the annual Graduation Dinner Dance. It was a delightful evening with wonderful company,  a fine meal, sharing of elementary school memories, and dancing!  A number of awards were presented at this event. SJS is delighted to announce the honorees.

An annual honor distributed at this graduation dinner is the Sullivan Award. This is given to one boy and one girl for outstanding scholastic effort and outstanding scholastic achievement. The selection is made by the teachers based upon total academic achievement and effort as reflected in the students’ eighth grade reports.

This year, the Sullivan Award for outstanding scholastic effort has been earned by Joseph Dillon and Madeline Reddin.

The Sullivan Award for Scholastic achievement has been earned by Jacob Abraham and Isabel Klimowicz.

The Margaret Zimmer Sweeney Award is given to eighth grade students who have exhibited seriousness about his or her schoolwork, and a dedication to the essence of faith life by selflessness and service to others. All eighth grade students are eligible for this award. The family of Margaret Zimmer Sweeney, a longtime parishioner of St. James, has funded this honor, offering the recipient a monetary award. The 2019 Margaret Zimmer Sweeney Award has been earned by Samantha Bell.

The Susan Kuzniewski Reifsnyder Award was established in 1997. It is awarded by the St. James Music ministry and carries a monetary gift. Two students are honored this year. The Reifsnyder Award has been earned by Mallory Leno.

Best wishes to the Class of 2018 as they celebrate their graduation from St. James School! Our community is proud of you! Never forget the lessons learned here! May you walk in the light of Jesus as you continue your journey to know and love Him. We’ll look for you at Sunday Mass at St. James!
