FROM THE DESK OF MRS. JUDY PAPPAS

Christmas circles around the idea of gifts and giving. Jesus Christ, God’s gift to us, calls us to come to a greater realization of the many gifts that we too often take for granted. With the recent losses experienced by members of our SJS families, the comfort and warmth from the community has been a gift to them.

Once of my greatest gifts is the St. James community. The annual outpouring of appreciation by parents and parishioners affirm for me the fact that God has steered me to where He wants me to be. I know our faculty and staff feel the same way! For us, it is a sign that the gifts we have been given are to be shared. That is how we show our appreciation to God for that which He has given us!

The entire faculty and staff of St. James School wish you a very Merry Christmas and God’s blessings on your family throughout the new year!! Thank you for your trust, your time, and your generosity all year long!

HOUSEHOLDS OF FAITH

FROM THE DESK OF MRS. PAT FARRELL

It is “beginning to look a lot like Christmas”. While that may be true, the way it is meant by the culture is not always consistent with the real sense of anticipation of Christmas.

As Catholics, we will continue to prepare for Christmas through the 24th of December. That includes the celebration of the Fourth week of Advent, this Sunday, December 23rd. CLICK HERE to read more.

ALUMNI NEWS

Each year, Illinois State Scholars represent the top 10 percent of high school seniors from 765 high schools across the state. Earning this distinction means the student has scored in the 95th percentile or above on the ACT or SAT, and ranks in the top half of the class.

SVHS has let us know of these SJS alumni who have achieved this honor: Thomas Constertina, Faith Cooper, Nolan Doherty, Zachary Evans, Nicole Gallant, Matteo Garland, Anna Haas, Sara Hankinson, Maura Hogaboom,  Colleen McMahon, Matthew McManaman, Michael Purk, Kiana Resch, Amalia Sordo-Palacios,  Cassidy Versen, and William Walberg.
