It was such a thrill to welcome our grandparents and special guests to SJS. Mass was, as always, a beautiful sharing of faith. Thank you to The Davy Family for leaving us with a beautiful message and affirmation of the priceless gift of a Catholic education! “Faith is the gift that keeps on giving!”
Students had memorable experiences with their grandparents/special friends in the classrooms. Thank you to all those who made this day so very special for us!! Photos from the day will be posted to the photo gallery on the website very soon.
If you haven’t already done so, please be sure to write your child’s name on all belongings. The lost and found is already teeming with uniforms, sweaters, water bottles, and lunch bags.

Thanks to those who have already submitted health forms that are REQUIRED by the state of Illinois. If you have not yet done so, please attend to this promptly. State statute excludes students from school attendance who haven’t fulfilled this requirement by October 15.
Pre-K 3 1) Illinois Certificate of Child Health Exam
Pre-K 4 1) Illinois Certificate of Child Health Exam if student is in Preschool for the first time……if student was in PreK 3 anywhere else, that Health Exam can be transferred to St. James.
Kindergarten 1) Illinois Certificate of Child Health Exam 2) Eye Exam 3) Dental Exam
2nd Grade 1) Dental Exam
6th Grade 1) Illinois Certificate of Child Health Exam 2) Dental Exam
4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th Illinois Certificate of Child Health Exam (We need a completed physical annually if your child is participating in any sporting activity)
*All completed examinations are due on the first day of practice
IMMUNIZATION EXEMPTIONS Immunizations are required for all students. The immunization schedule must be compliant with the guidelines of Illinois Department of Public Health. If you choose to be non-compliant of the rules for IDPH, you must submit the IDPH Exemption form signed by you and your physician. For questions call the Health Office @ 224-345-7147

PIZZA WITH A PURPOSE is back!!
SJS Student Council sponsors Pizza with a Purpose as a monthly fundraiser for charitable causes. Last year donations were made to Hurricane Maria, Foundation for Children in Need, and The Pediatric Cancer Reserach Foundation. ORDER DEADLINE IS SEPT. 21.

Our Box Tops contest is back!!!
Saint James collects Box Tops from participating products such as General Mills cereals, Ziploc bags, Annie’s snacks, Hefty bags, and many more! The grade who collects the most box tops by the end of the school year will receive a prize! Last year, we collected approximately 12,000 box tops for our school, which is $1200! Each homeroom teacher has a collection box in the classroom, so please send your box tops in with your child! For questions, please contact Gina Heuer at email@example.com
ST. JAMES NEEDS YOUR OPINION—WATCH FOR THE GALLUP ME25 SURVEY!Next week, St. James will conduct Gallup’s Member Engagement (ME25) survey, a census of all adult members of our parish. The survey will give you the opportunity to share your opinions about some of the key aspects of our parish life. This survey is an important part of our efforts to renew our church and fulfill God’s purpose for us now and in the years to come. Watch for more information about how your opinion can be heard!
