Our teachers have been working hard to ensure a smooth start for our children! There is great excitement to welcome you on Monday (Grades PK 4-8) for Orientation Day! Please see the detailed information for the day below.

 

BUT FIRST…. please join us on Sunday at the 11:30 Mass so that we can pray together. Following Mass, our Marketing Committee will be sponsoring coffee and munchkins.

Families are invited to check the lists outside the classrooms doors to find out who their homeroom teacher will be.

Many thanks to our maintenance staff for all of their work getting the school back in tip-top condition!! Amazingly, it doesn’t all happen by magic!

 

ORIENTATION DAY for PK 4-Grade 8        Monday, August 20

Families are invited to SJS for a variety of activities. Families are asked to stagger arrival: last names beginning with A-L come between 10:00 and 11:00 and last names beginning with M-Z between 11:00 and noon. Please enter through the west doors.

PK 3 families will have their orientation on Tuesday, August 28 at 9:30 in their respective classroom.

New families are invited to stop at the NEW FAMILY table where you can find assistance for navigating this day.

  • Meet the teachers and drop off supplies in the classrooms
  • Meet room parents
  • Complete and submit Emergency Forms-one for each child
  • Go to the Parish Center to pay incidental fees. Click here for the fee schedule
  • NEW THIS YEAR-–Credit Card payment available for Orientation Day fees
  • Only 1 line will be available for credit card pay so you may want to bring pay options (checks or cash)!
  • Accepted credit cards include American Express, Visa, Master Card, & Discover
  • 3.2% charge will be added to the total to cover the credit card fee assessed to SJS

SCHOOL SAFETY

As the year begins, be sure to get into school parking lot driving mode!! Safety is #1 at SJS so you are asked to

  • Drive slowly on campus
  • Always be aware that children are unpredictable and can be anywhere
  • Refrain from using cell phones when your vehicle is in motion on campus
  • Follow the procedures in place for arrival and dismissal
  • Be a good neighbor—-no standing or parking on Evergreen cul de sacs or on Pine or Frederick Avenues

FOOD SERVICE

Quest Hot Lunch online ordering for September should be available on August 18. Click here to get more information about the Quest at SJS.

Click here to access the Quest website. New families can receive student ID numbers needed for ordering on or after 8.20 by calling the school office at 224.345.7145.

Quest Food Service will begin on Sept. 4.

LUNCH POLICY

Families may choose between two options for lunch at SJS

  • Quest Food Service-ability to order up to 48 hours in advance
  • Sack lunch from home

Please refrain from lunches from outside sources such as Jimmy Johns, Portillos, McDonalds, etc. Additionally, students have the opportunity to have special lunches each month, October through May with Parents’ Club Special Lunch.

SJS respectfully requests that you to abide by this policy.

We look forward to seeing all families on Orientation Day!  Be sure to stop by the FSA Table to pick up your COMPLIMENTARY SCHOOL CALENDAR  (when you grab your calendar, be sure to verify your directory information).

The 2018-2019 Annual Fund is Here!  As a reminder, we have eliminated fees & product-based fundraisers this school year.  Instead, we ask you to make a ONE-TIME donation to support the many FSA programs.Donations can be made on Orientation Day or via Faith Direct.

Please note that Bank Day will no longer be offered at SJS due to low participation numbers.  All accounts opened through the program at Village Bank & Trust are still active.  Thank you to all the Bank Day volunteers over the years.

The Spirit Wear site is now open! All orders placed between now and the live sale on Monday, August 20th will be delivered to the school together sometime after Orientation Day.
