FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Next week SJS is looking forward to welcoming a visiting team to affirm the findings of our AdvancEd School Improvement Process.
The AdvancED accreditation process is used at all levels of education, and is recognized for its ability to effectively drive student performance and continuous improvement. This systems accreditation designed for Catholic school systems aligns us with the AdvancEd Standards. This approach to continuous school improvement confirms quality assurance in the systematic review of our educational programs to ensure that acceptable standards of Catholic identity, education, scholarship, and infrastructure are maintained. Each year SJS collects and analyzes data, sets goals, plans, implements, and evaluates our school improvement efforts. This ongoing continuous review and evaluation of activities leads to authentic school improvement. All Archdiocesan schools are visited in a 5 year cycle. Next week is SJS’s turn to “show off”!
A report of the findings will be distributed to the community after the visitation.

HOUSEHOLDS OF FAITH
One of our most beautiful Lenten traditions at St. James School is taking the children to Stations of the Cross on Friday afternoon. The students attend the Stations in groups of two grade levels. This way the form of the Stations that is used can be age-appropriate for them. This not only allows for a prayerful experience because the students can understand the Stations, but it also makes it possible for students to participate in reading portions of the Stations, as well as engaging in the responses. Our next meeting is Tuesday, March 20 at 9:00 a.m. in the Laramie Room (church basement). Can’t make it to morning meetings? Join us at our evening social meeting on April 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria! Meeting Minutes from each of our monthly meetings are available on the PC page of the school website. Here is a direct link: http://www.stjamesschoolah.org/student-life/digital-backpack/parents-club/
Thank you to those who completed our survey! We have 90 responses thus far – that’s about 30% of our school families. If you haven’t done it yet, please take a moment to share your opinion. The survey will be available until Monday, March 5. Results will be shared at our April 17 – 7:00 p.m. meeting.
