~A check has been sent off the St. Mary Star of the Sea School in Key West, Florida. St. James students raised $1,322.78 to help this community that is still rebuilding after the damage caused by Hurricane Irma last September. Thank you to all of our students for their generosity!

~The SJS community marked the beginning of Lent this week with a few classes witnessing the burning of ashes with Father Matt, and, of course, Ash Wednesday Mass. Students prayerfully received ashes and reflected to prepare meaningful Lenten resolutions that will bring them closer to Jesus.

  

~To help you mark a meaningful Lenten season, St. James Parish has a number of events which are noted later in this newsletter. From Bible Study, mediation, missions to daily Mass at noon, there are many opportunities to deepen your Lenten experience.

~Welcome to Mrs. Paula Mitchell. Paula is a registered nurse who is transitioning into a position in the Health Office. Mrs. Mitchell previous experience has included school nurse at St. Francis de Sales School and St. Frances Hospital.

A special thanks to Mr. Schroeder who stepped up to bring this magnificent production to fruition! They have provided a fabulous experience for our students! Thanks, too, to the dependable parent volunteers, and to our outstanding upper level students who outdid themselves in this worthwhile production! BRAVO!!

Tickets are still available at the door for Friday and Sunday performances.

 

 


Avoid the hike in fees by submitting your 2018-2019 application on or before February 23. Fees go up $50 per application after this date! Be sure to complete the entire application and place fee through Faith Direct or submit paper applications with fees to school office.



Our next Parents’ Club meeting is this TUESDAY FEBRUARY 20 @ 2:00 pm in the O’Brien Room.

Did you know… way back in 2001 our magazine drive fundraiser brought in a profit of $27,000?!?  Yes.  Really!  Today the magazine drive fundraising packet is being sent home with each student.  Unlike years past, there was no assembly for the students to ramp up their excitement; however, there are still prizes available as listed on the packet envelope.  Due dates for postcards and orders are as listed on the letter stapled to the envelope.   As with all Parents’ Club fundraisers, your support is voluntary. Last year we profited $3,500 from the magazine drive.  While still a significant profit, what a difference from 2001!  The Parents’ Club board is currently evaluating our fundraising calendar and wants to know what you think. Keep an eye out for our short survey which will be available soon.  Thank you for your continued support of Parents’ Club sponsored fundraisers and activities!
