  • Fourth and fifth grade parents are invited to a special presentation by the upper level teachers. This brief presentation will provide insights into the fabulous preparation students receive at SJS prior to entering high school. Please join us in the Science Lab at 1:00.
  • Guided tours begin in the Gathering Space
  • Be sure to attend the Scholastic Book Fair in the Resource Room
  • Visit the cafeteria to purchase tickets for the Broadway Bulldogs’ performance of High School Musical

School-wide Service Project for Catholic Schools Week

An important part of this year’s CSW celebration is a Giving Tree. All students and staff will have a chance to fill out “Bulldog Bucks” in class on Tuesday with a prayer/words of kindness for students at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School in Key West, Florida, which still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Irma.

A voluntary cash donation, no amount too small, will be collected in class on Tuesday as an act of generosity for St Mary School. Bulldog Bucks will be collected at the end of Catholic Schools week to send along with the monetary donation to St Mary  as part of our Catholic Schools Week  theme,  “Love One Another” .

      

All are invited  to come see the Giving Tree at the Open House on Sunday as we kick off the start of Catholic Schools Week! 


Registration for the 2018-2019 academic year begins on Sunday! Though paper forms have been sent home, this year the preferred form is via ONLINE REGISTRATION. Fees can also be paid online using FAITH DIRECT! There is a direct link to registration forms on the homepage of the SJS website. Sandwich Ministry    Thank you for contributing to this month’s Sandwich Ministry collection! The team delivered 90 lunches to three social service agencies on the west side of Chicago – Grace House, St. Leonard House, and Marillac House Many thanks to Sarah Whelan for her work in organizing and delivering for Sandwich Ministry! It is a condition called ‘text neck’. ‘Text neck’ is the term used to describe the neck pain and damage sustained from looking down at a cell phone, tablet, or other wireless devices. Read more.


SJS is participating in an exciting program that encourages students in grades
K through 6 to read for fun. Read to Succeed is a free program sponsored by Six Flags Theme Parks. Every student who completes six hours of recreational reading before the school’s deadline listed on the bottom of this page is eligible for a free admission ticket, valid at the participating Six Flags Theme Park that the school has selected.Click on Six Flags Student Reading Log to print evidence.  More information can be found here.

Did you know… that your annual paid registration as a Parents’ Club member and your support of our fundraisers and social events helps to provide stipends to our teachers, aides and special school staff three times per year?  It’s true!  Next week, Parents’ Club will present Catholic Schools Week stipends.  These professional gifts are offered granting the opportunity to purchase additional resources and supplies needed to serve our children in the classroom.  Our staff is special and earns our generosity and thanks every day.  Thank YOU for your support of Parents’ Club fundraisers and events so that we can continue to show our staff how much we love and appreciate all that they do!
