Current family registration forms will be sent home with the oldest/only student next Friday. Current families will have the option of using this form to register current students as online registration must be done one student at a time. Fees should be returned with the paper registrations. ~We hope your calendar us marked for the annual Catholic Schools Week Open House scheduled for Sunday, January 28 from 11:30 until 2:00. Fourth and fifth grade parents are invited to a special presentation by the upper level teachers. This brief presentation will provide insights into the fabulous preparation SJS students receive at SJS prior to entering high school. Please join us in the science lab at 1:00.

~St. James will have an out of uniform day for those who bring in money for “One for Books.”  “One for Books” is a program offered through Scholastic that allows us to spend all money collected on resources for our St. James teachers and classrooms, while Scholastic matches the full amount collected and donates it to a school in need.  This is a WIN! WIN! opportunity, so please send your child to school on Thursday, January 25th with a $1 donation (child can wear Spirit Wear) or a $2 donation (child can wear non-spirit wear clothes that comply with the school policy).  Let’s get into the Book Fair spirit by participating in this fun out of uniform fundraiser!

~2017-2018 YEARBOOK ORDERS are now being accepted. Remember all the fun times at St. James! Don’t miss your chance to order your full color yearbook. The 2017-2018 yearbooks include portraits of every St. James student, collages, team pictures and more. Complete this form (one form per family) and include a $20.00 (per book) check made payable to St. James School. Be sure to indicate the number of books you want per student and return the form with a check to the Office no later than Monday, January 22.This is your only opportunity to purchase a 2017-2018 yearbook! All orders must be pre-paid by the due date. NO EXTRAS ARE ORDERED.

~SIX FLAGS READING PROGRAM  Interested in free Six Flags Tickets?   Cathy Waltz is looking for someone to replace her as coordinator for this program.  As a coordinator, you are rewarded with a free adult ticket.  This role is open to a teacher or parent.  A replacement would need to be found soon because deadline for registration and entering reading logs is fast approaching (March 1st).  Contact Cathy for more information cathywaltz@ymail.com.   You can find addition information by clicking here.

Tax Credit information update from the Archdiocese of Chicago: The Archdiocese of Chicago is hosting tax credit scholarship information events for current and prospective students this week and next week across the Archdiocese. At the events we will provide a general overview of tax credit scholarships and the application process, as well as answer attendee questions. Help in English and Spanish will be provided. At the events we will also have scanners and thumb drives available so that families can scan in and save the documents they will need to submit when applying for tax credit scholarships – giving them a head start for when applications open. 2017 tax year info from the Parish Business Office….For tax purposes, reports listing your 2017 calendar year donations to St. James Parish (including those donations made electronically) are being mailed this week.   Please don’t confuse these statements with your “tuition year” donation statements that are mailed to you periodically.

Also, for the benefit of families eligible for the Illinois K-12 Education Expense Credit, you are now able to access your SMART Tuition 2017 year-end statement by logging into www.parents.smarttuition.com.  This can be found at the bottom right hand side of your family home page – choose the “Family Based” option.
