What’s Happening in the Tech Lab?

rd Grade: Typing, typing, typing! 3rd graders are practicing their typing with an online primary program called Dance Mat Typing. To strengthen their skills and apply them to the real-world, the 3rd graders complete typing projects, such as research, essays, and poetry writing.

th Grade: 4th graders are beginning Valentine’s poems for a loved one. A new exciting element was added to the 4th grade curriculum this year: Digital Passport. Students learned about a variety of cyber safety strategies through this Common Sense Media game platform. For more information, go to www.digitalpassport.org.

th Grade: 5th graders recently wrapped up a cross-curricular project with their work in Science to create an animal brochure about various lizards using (a never before used in 5th grade) program called LucidPress.

th Grade– 6th graders received St. James email accounts this year, so we began the trimester with a focus on the different Google Apps: Docs, Drive, Calendar, and Mail. Since then, they’ve learned how to use Lucidpress to make a brochure- another cross-curricular project with Social Studies. Next up is some fun with Slides and learning how to use Google Maps and Earth with a scavenger hunt!
